About Us

Women Optometrists in Nigeria (WON) was founded in 1998 as an umbrella body representing female Doctors of Optometry across the 36 states of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory. WON’s prima objective is taking eyecare to the grassroots and ensuring that no one is left out especially women, children and underprivileged in the most remote parts of the country. We do this by volunterrism and offering free vision screenings , provision of eyeglasses and management of eye diseases during our various outreach programs.

WON is also about women supporting women, accomplished through various initiatives including personal and professional development. Our motto, WON FOR ALL, ALL FOR WON, fully captures this essence.

WON is an affiliate of the Nigerian Optometric Association (NOA), and has national executive council comprising of reputed ODs who are elected in a termed elections. This management strucuture is replicated across state chapters all over Nigeria.
